Freight to and from
Helsinki.

A container, an unaccompanied trailer and a delivery to a Helsinki warehouse need different instructions. Start with the harbour named on the booking and the cargo unit to be collected, then define the inland movement.

Every enquiry is assessed for route, cargo and partner suitability before quotation or booking.

A CLEARER STARTING POINT

Helsinki. Choose the harbour before the handover.

The Port of Helsinki distinguishes Vuosaari’s container and RoRo operations from cargo carried through its city-centre passenger harbours. Goods handling at Vuosaari is provided by operators in the area, while cargo documents and access permits are handled at operator service points in the Gatehouse. A port name alone leaves the actual collection point unresolved.

BUILD A BETTER ENQUIRY

Three decisions before you move.

01

Vuosaari or a city harbour?

Copy the harbour and operator from the shipment booking. Do not substitute one Helsinki terminal for another; the collecting vehicle needs the exact gate and service point that apply to the cargo.

02

Container, trailer or loose goods?

State the unit type, identification number if assigned, loaded weight and handling needs. For an unaccompanied trailer, say who supplies traction and where responsibility changes.

03

Port collection or final-site delivery?

List the Finnish delivery address, unloading arrangements and any unit return. Ask for port handling, waiting and inland transport scope to be made explicit when a quotation is prepared.

READY WHEN THE DETAILS ARE

Give your cargo a clear way forward.

Whether your cargo starts here or arrives here, a complete brief helps the operations desk assess the right scope.

QUESTIONS BEFORE THE NEXT STEP

Helsinki freight questions.

Does all Helsinki freight move through Vuosaari?

No. The port also identifies cargo movements through its city-centre harbours. Use the harbour on the actual booking and request clarification if your documents do not identify it.

Can I request movement of an unaccompanied trailer?

Include the trailer details, harbour, traction requirement and destination. Equipment compatibility, release arrangements and available partners must be checked before acceptance.

Where should I check the approach to Vuosaari?

Use the official harbour access information and obtain the operator’s current instructions before dispatch. Road approaches and terminal arrangements may change, so a saved route is not sufficient confirmation.
